I'm excited to announce that this year we have invested in new kit, as we continue to improve our technical operating systems to keep up to date with the ever changing environment of the digital and video industries.
We have recently updated our streaming services, meaning more people can watch our videos across more platforms. So this year we wanted to invest in equipment to take our videos to the next level too.
So we have invested in Sony's brand new PXW-X200, the successor to the PMW-200, with a rode shotgun mic and Libec tripod. The improved Sony XDCAM has a new 3CMOS sensor and 17x zoom lens (35mm equivalent). It records at 50mbps in Full HD (1920 x 1080) and is great in difficult lighting conditions. All this is ideal for us; it suits our shooting needs as we film a lot of lectures, talks and educational content (with varying indoor lighting set ups), as well as broadcast productions and documentaries for Notts TV.
Furthermore, Sony claims that a "live streaming function will be made available through a future firmware upgrade" meaning video and audio could be streamed live, remotely. This is a great feature that could prove invaluable for educational and corporate events.
This camera is brand new and has only just arrived in the UK, so I'm very much looking forward to testing it out over the coming weeks and letting you know the results. Watch this space!
