Launched on the 27th of May 2014 on Freeview Channel 8 and Virgin 159 as the dedicated local TV service for Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, Notts TV is celebrating a year on air as part of a growing national network of Local TV channels.

After a high profile launch in May 2014 which saw Notts TV nominated for an RTS innovation award, the Channel has achieved positive viewer engagement. According to audience research carried out for the channel, weekly reach has grown from 18.5% in summer 2014 to 23.5% in April 2015*.

Chair of the Notts TV Board and Notts TV consortium member Craig Chettle comments: “One year on air is an achievement worth celebrating. Notts TV is still in its infancy - but set up is over and we are now entering its growth phase. As a consortium, we feel that is worth celebrating”.

Nottingham’s ice dancing legends Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean appeared in Notts TV’s first programme Mass Bolero, which saw people from all walks of life recreating the famous dance. Christopher Dean comments: “Jayne and I congratulate Notts TV on its first birthday. We were proud to have played a part in its launch, we tune in when we are in Nottingham, and we look forward to it reaching its next milestone”.
